~Review~
“I was young, pretty and had my
share of fun. Yet, I wanted something more serious, something soul crushing,
heart wrenching serious. I didn’t want any of this bull**** kid stuff anymore.
I wanted what I wrote about. I dreamt what I wrote about. I wished for it every
day, even though I knew it wasn’t real; I still clung to the idea that a soul
changing love existed for me.”
Kassia has made a nice name for herself in the world of
romantic fiction. She has a knack for
pulling her readers in with the absolutely unrealistic lust of supernatural men…if
only real life were so easy. In the real
world, Kassia is a recluse. Her past,
which is spotted, keeps a fear in her mind…one deeply rooted in thunderstorms.
Having an overprotective brother has its perks though. Owner of a Gym chain all over the US, he gets
her out as much as he can. Until one day
she meets Jason. He’s young, he
gorgeous, and there seems to be some sort of cosmic pull to him…now to just
figure out why? Problem is, Kassia feels
he too young and tries to steer clear.
It’s not until she realizes, he too, has a fear of
thunderstorms…and that bond is just the beginning of a deeply rooted past they
share.
“Was he truly a man or a mere
dream I had dreamt of? A person like him could only exist in my mind. For how
can a man as beautifully scarred as him, hold my beating heart? I knew. I knew when I saw him, that he carried
the other part of my soul. I must have willingly given it to him in my dreams,
for it was always his to have.”
This was one of those books where you aren’t quite sure
where it’s headed…and then everything clicks into place and your mind is
blown. I loved reading about a writer,
an older woman with a younger guy…now granted, the age difference isn’t much
but it lends itself a different type of scenario. It was refreshing. The romance factor was fabulous but it was
the mystery in the story that kept me reading.
I love when I can be surprised, which makes reading a novel like this
enjoyable.
