As lead singer and guitarist of the internationally renowned Souls of the Knight, Sawyer Knight is living a life most men can only dream of. He’s surrounded by music, fame, wealth, women throwing themselves at his feet. He has everything…
Yet he has nothing.
Life as one of the world’s most sought after rock stars is tiring, oppressive and lonely. He spends every day being who the world wants him to be, who his manager tells him to be, who his mother expects him to be… all the while fighting against who he really is. Truth is, he’s used to it. He’s actually gotten pretty good at pretending… at living the lie.
Until Jake Reed, his ex-best friend and the only person who’s ever made him ‘feel’, waltzes back into his life as the band’s new head of security. Jake wants Sawyer – always has, always will. Now, he just needs to get Sawyer to admit that he feels the same…
“You will be mine, Sawyer Knight. The faster you try to run the quicker you’ll fall to your knees. Then, Sawyer… then you’ll be too weak to resist.”
“Jake Reed, my ex-best
friend. A friend I’d shared everything
with growing up and a friend I’d pushed away saying I never wanted to see
again. Now he was here, right in front
of me, dressing impeccably in a sharp black suit with enough buttons undone on
his white shirt to show the world he was ripped, and the only thing I could
remember about him was the way his lips felt on my mine. I’m *** screwed.”
What happens when your past skeletons make their way to the
front of your closet, to where whenever you open the door, every one can get a
glimpse of all you are hiding? For
Sawyer Knight, life just got way more complicated.
Jake Reed left; left with the promise of never coming back
and Sawyer took him at his word. So,
that fateful night when they were just teens is not only his last memory of
Jake but also the most confusing yet arousing time of his life. Never in a million years did he think his
best friend would cross the line the way he did…but with the possibility of
never seeing Sawyer again, Jake acted on the one impulse he’s had since they
became friends. Too bad instead of a
fantasy becoming a reality, he was not only rejected but hurt in more ways than
one by the one person he thought would understand…
Now, Jake is back.
And he’s exactly what Sawyer needs.
“I’m the best. Sawyer Knight has always deserved the best,
and if he won’t let me take care of his heart, I will at least make sure I
protect his life.”
Being a rock star has both its advantages and
disadvantages. There are plenty of women
just waiting for the opportunity to say they slept with someone famous…and what
better way for Sawyer to forget that the one person he actually has feelings
for than to bury himself in someone else as often as possible. That is until he’s actually face-to-face with
both his worst nightmare and biggest fantasy dream come true.
Jake is Sawyer’s new head of security…and personal
bodyguard.
*insert wicked laugh here*
How’s that for a little twist of fate? Denial becomes Sawyer’s best defense against
a bigger, badder, and hotter Jake Reed.
The only problem is, Jake isn’t taking no for an answer this time…he
knows Sawyer felt the same things he did all those years ago and fear of the
consequences are what kept them apart.
No longer do those obstacles stand in the way…if only Sawyer can find a
way to see that the one person who has loved him all this time can not only
protect his life, but secure his heart as well.
“I do know Sawyer Knight—the real
one. I grew up with him, I loved him…I
still love him.”
***
“Sawyer is hiding himself from
the world. He’s hiding from
himself. And I’m going to find him.”
Oh, this story…this book has got to be one of the best I’ve
ever read. And not just in this genre (which
is M/M—another new thing for me) but in any genre. I am so enamored by not just the characters
but the love story. The time that passes
between Jake & Sawyer but yet the feelings remain…that is true emotion of
soul mates. Being Sawyer Knight is a love story that transcends all barriers…Jake
and Sawyer turn up the heat factor ten-fold, I am completely in love with their
story.
Nicola Haken had me so hot and bothered by these two…I even
told her in explicit detail how I felt about what I was reading. (Thank you for the opportunity to BETA for
you—truly a gift). This book has me
scouring shelves for other M/M romances…I just hope they are all as amazing as
this one. I think I’ve been spoiled by
not just a fabulous storyline, some seriously hot love scenes (that made me
blush like crazy), but the style of Nicola’s writing just pulls me in and I
never wanted the story to end.
**5 If I Could Give More, I Would Stars**
“I need to talk to you,” was how I
greeted Sawyer when he opened the door to his dressing room. We had an hour to
wait before the stylists and makeup artists were available to prepare the guys
for the shoot, so they were all chilling back in their respective dressing
suites.
“Um,’kay,” he said nervously,
backing into the room. I followed him inside and then turned back to the door,
locking it behind me. That move caused his Adam’s apple to bulge as he
swallowed nervously. “W-what’s up?”
“You looked beautiful on that
stage,” I said, advancing towards him. Instinctively he backed away, but I kept
moving forward until he was pressed against the wall. “My dick was so hard for
you, Sawyer. It’s been hard for you since I got here.”
I flattened my palm against his
heaving chest and his own hand quickly reached up to move it away, but instead
it lingered, his fingers curling around my own.
“Please, Jake. You’re messing with
my head. I can’t take it much longer. You were my best friend and I’ve missed
that. Please don’t fuck that up.”
“But I don’t want to be your
friend, Sawyer. I want to be your everything.”
“You can’t be serious. You don’t
even know me anymore.” His voice was faltering. I was winning.
“I do know you. I know you better than anyone. I know you better than
you know yourself. If I didn’t, how would I know that you want me to do this?”
I breathed, sliding my hand down his chest until it reached the waistband of
his jeans. He swallowed forcefully and then opened his mouth, to protest I
assumed, but when my hand dipped inside and took hold of his cock, all that
came out was a moan.
The risk I was taking was either
going to be a monumental breakthrough, or the biggest mistake of my life.
