Book Tour - Running on Empty
Beautiful and loving husband.Three gorgeous little girls.
Successful career.
The only thing missing was the white picket fence. I really wanted that fence.
Three years ago, I lost that life. I lost my husband. And I lost myself. But, eventually, I found my way through the darkness. I’ve made peace with my new life. I have my girls, and that’s all that matters. They are my world. I have no illusions of ever falling in love again or getting whisked away on a white horse.
But then he came back into my life. On a freakin’ motorcycle.
There’s no way I’ll let him turn my life completely upside down.Absolutely no way.
The question is…
How long can I keep pretending that I’m happy with my life being right-side up?
Author Interview
Firstly thank you for taking the
time to do this interview with me for Whirlwindbooks, I thought I would jump
right in and ask what inspired you to write?
Hmmmm…good question. I actually started to write the first chapter
from an experience that I had with my own children. Toothpaste in the hair,
yeah, it happened. I wanted to write a
story for them to have always, to remember their little sayings, little
arguments, funny things that happened when they were children. But then it kind of just took off, turning
into a beautiful love story that I absolutely loved writing.
I loved your book! I was just
curious how did the idea for Running on Empty come about?
Well, I wanted to write a
love story. I put myself in the position
of the main character, Alex, and tried to write exactly what I thought would be
going through the mind of someone who lost her husband at such a young age. Her defense mechanisms, her constant need to
guard her heart from being hurt again, her entertaining internal monologues…I
wanted to write a story that touched the hearts of readers. We all know that she isn’t perfect, but who
is? I wanted a relatable character, a
mother, who makes mistakes but is trying the best she can under the
circumstances she’s been handed in life. And I wanted her to have a happy
ending.
Are there going to be more books in
the same series?
Yes, I’m about to
start working on Running in Place. I am
excited about the story. It’s in my
head, but I still need to start writing it. It’s going to focus on Trace’s
sister, Tatum, who is kinda stuck in life, not going anywhere. It’s about her battle within herself to let
go of her anger and basically grow up and move forward in her life.
How did you find the support from
other Authors? I have always been curious if it is a welcoming world or if you
have to gain respect to be considered a part of it.
LOL! This is a perfect question! I was so blessed to meet authors that were
just beginning the same journey when I was. I lovingly call us the newbie
class. We helped each other through the
process, laughed at our mistakes together, and supported each other when we
needed it. I love these women with all of my heart and I was so blessed to have
met them.
How much of the book came from your
imagination and how much came from real people and experiences? Please tell me
there is a real life Blake running around for me to make mine?
The children and their
stories were all real. Their personalities are captured just as they are in
real life. There is a lot of myself in
Alex, but Blake…well, Blake is a perfect man, what can I say? I wanted someone to compliment Alex and her
personality, handle her stubbornness, and someone who just loved her, because
of the person she was…flaws and all.
Blake was the person molded in my mind for her. And I love him. Too much.
If you were to cast a movie for the
book, who would you pick to play who?
That is such a hard
question for me to answer. They are in
my head and so hard to find people that I think look like they do in my
mind. But if I had to pick…I would say
Alex – a young Marissa Tomei, Blake – a shaggy haired Bradley Cooper, Trace –
Ian Somerhalder, and Harlow – Rachelle Lefevre
Do you have any other books
planned that are not related to this series?
Not yet, but I’m always
thinking! So I’m sure I will eventually.
Thank you again for taking the time
